ConclusionsAs I stated before, my definitions stems from an information technology viewpoint. In the world of the Internet the material, medium, and methods are all separate. The material, or content, is usually prepared by people who are not technology experts. They are experts in their field. The medium (servers, networks, etc.) is also managed by a totally separate group. Finally, the methods are the creations of the designers and developers. Through breaking down the field of Instructional Technology into these three pieces, I have developed my personal definition of IT: Instructional Technology is the use of a technological medium to facilitate the transfer of information into knowledge and understanding. So I have provided my ideas through the Internet in the form of this Web site. Is this Instructional Technology? Please feel free to e-mail me with your ideas and opinions on this view of Instructional Technology. |
