Abstract
This project will involve a redesign and reformatting of the present
online course which new resident assistants complete during the summer
before they begin employment. This course will be designed to create
a series of three modules on the material that has been identified by
the department as vital for the resident assistant to know before they
arrive. Each module will contain text content as well as various other
media to engage the learner in interactive learning. The main purpose
of this course will be to instruct the learner in a way to maximize
their understanding and retention of the information and enable them
to think critically about certain areas of the resident assistant position.
Client Information
Our client for this project is the Department of University Housing at the University of Georgia. More specifically, the main individual that we will be working with is Kristen Abell, who is the Coordinator for Undergraduate Staff Development for the Office of Staff Development and Judicial Programs within the Housing Department. Mrs. Abell is responsible for the hiring and training of approximately 150 resident assistants along with numerous other student employees within the department. Our project will focus on her role in training new resident assistants.
